| Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy is a kind of material composition analysis technique, which has many unique advantages. However, the sensitivity of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy is relatively low, which limits its application in the quantitative determination of trace elements. Thus, in order to broaden the application fields of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, it is necessary to improve its signal intensity and detection sensitivity. Based on the researches on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy signal enhancement technologies, eight signal enhancement methods widely used currently were briefly described and summarized, including double pulse, spark discharge, microwave assisted, space confinement, magnetic field confinement, depositing nanoparticles on the surface, heating sample and using pure gas. In addition, the enhancement mechanisms and internal enhancement factors of each technology were discussed in depth, which provided a reference for better selection of existing enhancement techniques and the study of new enhancement techniques. |
