| New measurements of the chromatic difference of focus of the human eye wereobtained with a two-co1or vernier -alignment technique. The results were used to redefinethe variation of refractive index of the reduced eye over the visible spectrum. The reduced eyewas further modified by changing the refracting surface to an aspherical shape to reduce theamount of spherical aberration. The resu1ting chromatic-eye modal provides an improved ac-count of both the longitudinal and transverse forms of ocular chromatic aberration. |
